Matt Godfrey: This is my way of giving something back

We caught up with Northants Knights Youth head coach Matt Godfrey as the 2021 campaign picks up pace with gamedays approaching.

"I am very proud to be appointed as youth team head coach following on from a successful associate season as head coach of the knights senior team in 2019.

"Many people ask why the change. I started out as a player at 11 years old in the States and carried on at youth level over here in the UK, and ended up as defensive captain of the GB team, eventually going on to play semi pro in Spain.

"This is my way of giving something back to the sport that I enjoyed playing for so many years.

"We have guys that are all new to the sport but have so much potential that I am excited to taking the field on the 7th August for our first game day.

"This is fundamental in supporting both the U19 Junior team and the senior team, by feeding into them.

"We have a great programme here at the knights and I can’t wait to see where we go."
