Match report: Northants Knights 61-0 Worcestershire Black Knights

Northants Knights celebrated their first ever home league game in style with an emphatic 61-0 victory over the Worcestershire Black Knights.

The home side got off to a quick start on both sides of the ball, with Rookie Running Back James Hulston punching one in from close range to open the scoring, and Rae Liburd-Hamilton picking off the WBK quarterback for a fantastic pick 6 making it 14-0 in the first quarter.

The start of the second quarter was marred by a number of penalties and a Knights fumble, but the defense kept the WBK at bay, with the Knights eventually getting their third score of the day - Hulston running another in from 17 yards out. Nick Rizzuto then connected with Cam Young at the end of Q2, leaving the score 28-0 at half time.

The Knights came flying out of the gate for the second half with Josh Randall in at QB, marching down the field and connecting with Tyler Gordon for an early score. In the first play after the resultant kickoff, Bailey Mcfall took another interception to the house, making the score 41-0.

The Knights kept the pressure on in the fourth quarter, with a running TD from Cam Young, a fumble returned by Kevin Cunningham after a Stevie Ford strip sack, and the scoring capped off with a beautiful TD pass from Randall to Lewis Moore, making the final score 61-0 to the Knights.
