UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS: KWAKU OWUSU

This week, we shine a light on Kwaku Owusu, our former Offensive tackle who led the Knights through two back-to-back undefeated seasons. Kwaku is now playing university football for the Plymouth Blitz at University of Plymouth, and we caught up with him to hear about his journey.

Kwaku was a consistent figure on the offensive line during 2 unbeaten U19 seasons.

How’s university football been so far?

“My American football journey at university has been good. Going in with the experience from the Knights made it easier for me to adjust to the different playing style.”

How did the Knights prepare you for the next level?

“I think just having those training sessions on a Thursday and Sunday and being pushed by your coaches to do better gives you that level of confidence that makes it easier to integrate and learn but also learning form your mistakes as well.”

Advice for current Knights players?

“I think its a great opportunity to do something great. I understand not all university levels are the same but to just play and be on a team where you feel comfortable as a player and a person is so important, so I say go for it no matter what university you end up at”

What would you tell your younger self?

“Aww man where do I begin! I say my thing is those training sessions are there for a reason, so try and go to them as much as you can and also to work out and take the warm up serious because it may not seem like a lot but those warm ups gets your body and mind ready for whatever your going into.”
