Knights celebrate 2021 end of season awards

Junior MVP and Players Player winner Josh Haynes

After a successful 2021 campaign, the Northants Knights had a reason to celebrate as we hosted our annual end of season awards night.

Held on 23 October at Wellingborough Old Grammarians, our accommodating venue for games this year, the night got under way with the awards for our Youth team who finished second in the division with a 7-3-1 record.

Youth team award winners

The youth award winners were:

Team MVP - Shawn Colgan
Players Player of the Year - Matt Coggins
Coaches Player of the Year - Josh Toms
Offensive Player of the Year - Ben Godfrey
Defensive Player of the Year - Antwone Hunt
Donkey of the Year - Curtis Spatcher

Due to every player taking their first steps into football, there wasn't a ‘most improved’ award as every player did exceptionally well.

Head coach Matt Godfrey said: “It has been a great year for us and I am so proud of each and every one of my players. Instead of a most improved award I will be giving them all a medal for such a great season."

Reflecting on the awards and the season, Head Coach Jack O’Beirne said: “This is a fantastic group of players but even better young men. It’s a special bunch of players and it’s been a special year, but we now look ahead to next season."
