60-second interview: Jaden Etienne-Simmonds - Defensive line

In our latest 60-second interview, we caught up with the Knights’ Jaden Etienne-Simmonds.

Name: Jaden Etienne-Simmonds
Age: 20
Height: 6ft 3in
Weight: 140.5kg
Position: Defensive line
Experience: GB National Team, University Level

What is your favourite Knights memory?

Winning our first game collectively, seeing our hard work come to fruition was such a refreshing feeling.

When did you join the Knights and what made you stay?

I joined the Knights in May 2021 and from session one they welcomed me into friendship groups, introduced me to the team, and each player welcomed me individually which was a shock to me. It became more than football when I was invited to go out with players.

I stayed because I see so much potential in this team and it is clear we can go far but, more importantly, it betters me as a person and as a player and all I want to do is become a better footballer and a better man.

What advice would you give to someone joining the sport?

Express yourself and don’t be afraid to be who you are; it’s a such a welcoming sport.

Why should players pick the Knights?

For a ‘Div 2’ side they have some ballers but other than that it has a real family feel. Pre-game, mid-game and post-game we all have each others’ backs and that is how we are able to progress week in and week out, because there is a level of love and trust within the team and coaching staff.
