The coach's view: A look ahead to South Lincs Lightning
Head coach Wayne Gumbs and coach Wale Oyemade have shared their thoughts ahead of South Lincs Lightning's visit in the 2021 BAFA National League Central East.
The game against the Lightning is the Knights' third of the season, and comes after successive defeats at the hands of Nottingham Caesars.
Head Coach Wayne Gumbs:
"After having two hard games at the start of the season I think it has put the team well on track as to what to work towards to achieve the overall goals.
"With a whole new coaching staff and a lot of new players, to lose the games by the small margins we did against a well established organisation, shows how far the team has come in a short period of time.
"Going up against South Lincs this weekend will again be another test as they are where we were before Covid-19 hit. We can see how far we have progressed and allow players new to the team to get the exposure they need to progress at the sport.
"The players have been putting in the work since the last game and everyone is on the same page as they want to improve and dominate.
"We want to welcome South Lincs as this will be their first game and I’m sure everyone will play hard and have fun doing it."
Defensive Co-ordinator Wale Oyemade:
"As a team, we have made some significant strides since the start of the camp.
"However, we are still without a win and we felt extremely disappointed not to have capitalised on the opportunities in the previous games.
"We will give our opponents the respect that they deserve, but mark my words, our defence will be taking no prisoners on Sunday."
