The head coach's view: Hereford Stampede 6-39 Northants Knights

Head Coach Wayne Gumbs has shared his thoughts after the Northants Knights' 39-6 opening day victory at Hereford Stampede.

"The game got off to a jittery start. First game nerves, and a couple of turnovers, may have been the case.

"Offense took a bit of time to find their groove but once the defense made a couple of stands and got a score of their own, this was indeed the motivation needed to come out firing in the second half.

"A half-time talk and regroup allowed us to play the football we are good at. Across the board improvements were made throughout the game and confidence grew.

"We still have a look of work to do but this is a very promising start and I am very proud of everyone for their performance. Now we regroup to be ready for our next opponents."

Defence MVP: Rae Hamilton

Offence MVP: Tyler Gordon

Special teams MVP: Lewis Moore
