Josh Cooper aiming to 'rediscover passion' with the Knights
Northants Knights' new addition Josh Cooper is aiming to rediscover his passion for American Football after joining the roster for the 2022 season.
Cooper, who started out with Swindon Storm's youth team in 2009, also counts Coventry Jets and Tamworth Phoenix among his former clubs.
"I started in Swindon Storm's youth team at 17 before going to Coventry University where I started at cornerback my last two years," he said.
"After that I moved onto the Coventry Jets senior team and played there until 2018, with the highs of a playoff appearance and the low of relegation after four years in the Premiership, winning defensive MVP twice and team MVP once.
"After that I wanted to test myself in a harsher environment at Tamworth Phoenix and got to play against European opposition and in a national final, but found myself less interested in the sport as Covid hit and sat a year out."
After his spell out, Cooper is now ready to pull on the Knights' jersey, aiming to make an impact on the offense.
"Joining Northants gives me a great opportunity to link up with some old teammates and friends and rediscover my passion for the sport, as well as fulfilling my real ambition of playing on offense!
"I’m excited for what lies ahead - including playing Swindon for the first time - and have been impressed with the set up at Northants as well as the quality in the side."
