UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS: DANNY HUDSON
This week, we shine a light on Danny Hudson, our former Quarterback who led the Knights through two back-to-back undefeated seasons. Danny is now playing university football for the Bristol Barracudas at the University of Bristol, and we caught up with him to hear about his journey.
How’s university football been so far?
“Excellent, it's been tough but that's what makes it all worth it. Sitting on the bench as a QB for two years has made every game I've played in so much more special to me.”
How did the Knights prepare you for the next level?
“The Knights gave me a foundation into football and work ethic in life I hope I never lose. It also, more than anything, made me a great teammate. In a sense that, whether you play every rep, or not at all, in training you as hard as you can to make those around you better.”
Advice for current Knights players?
“It's important to leverage your talent on the field to push your academics far. There are some excellent universities offering scholarships. Use football to put yourself in a strong position for the rest of your life. Oh also, eat as much food as you can. People are bigger at uni.”
What would you tell your younger self?
“Enjoy it. It sounds so simple, but Sundays are Thursdays are the best days of the week. I love uniball, but I don't think anything ever will top full contact scrimmage with the Knights. It gets so competitive and intense in a way I can't really describe.”
Danny’s journey is a testament to the quality of coaching, experience, and preparation players gain at the Northants Knights. We’re incredibly proud of him and excited to see what he continues to achieve!
